Why go solar now

Your roof is the cheapest power plant you'll ever own.

  • Slash your bills Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka get 4–5.5 peak sun hours a day on average. Each 1 kW of panels produces around 4 units a day, about 120 units a month.
  • Government subsidy Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, eligible homes get up to ₹78,000 central subsidy on systems of 3 kW and above.
  • Sell surplus power With net-metering from your electricity board (KSEB, TNPDCL, BESCOM and others), extra units you generate go back to the grid and are credited against your bill.
  • Protect against tariff hikes Lock in your own power cost for 25+ years while grid electricity prices keep rising.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does a rooftop solar system cost?

A typical on-grid home system costs roughly ₹55,000–₹65,000 per kW before subsidy, depending on panel brand, inverter and roof structure. A 3 kW system usually comes to ₹1–1.2 lakh after the central subsidy.

Who is eligible for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?

Residential homeowners with a valid electricity connection in their name and a suitable roof. The subsidy is ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more. Businesses aren't covered, but can claim accelerated depreciation benefits.

Will solar work during the monsoon?

Yes. Output drops on heavily overcast days, but panels still generate from diffuse light. Net-metering balances it out: surplus from sunny months offsets the cloudy ones across the year.

Do I get power during a power cut?

A standard on-grid system shuts off during outages for safety. If you want backup, choose a hybrid system with batteries. We'll help you decide based on how often you face power cuts.

How much maintenance is needed?

Very little. Panels should be cleaned every 2–4 weeks, more often near roads or the coast. We offer annual maintenance plans that include cleaning, inspection and inverter checks.

How long does installation take?

Physical installation takes 2–5 days for most homes. The full process, including electricity board approvals and net-meter installation, typically takes 3–6 weeks.
